We moved to Beckford just in November 1984 and have enjoyed our time here ever since. We live in a small close on the edge of the Village - our house is called The Shieling, hence the name of the web site. The Shieling is an old scottish word for 'shepherd's hut', but the house is more than that!

We recently retired from running a small business from home and now enjoy retirement doing what we like, when we like. Marion spends much of her spare time in the garden, while Andy created the Beckford village web site, with much of his spare time spent maintaining the site - and this one; in addtion to his hobbies of woodwork, DIY and photography.

This personal web site is our way of keeping in touch with our friends all over the world and an easy way of showing our holiday and family photos - you can search the site for particular photos.

We are starting on the long and interesting task of researching our family history and this site will be a convenient way of storing the information we discover.
